Find a Mentor
After making the commitment to do better than you’ve done before, consider finding a mentor. Or mentors. Learn from them, observe their work habits, and if possible, work with them. Nothing beats experience when it comes to learning valuable lessons.
Actively Seek Feedback
Most of us, if not all, are biased when it comes to our own work. Yet you will never significantly improve if you do not listen to what others have to say about your output. Take no offense and write down the main points of their critique. Furthermore, if you are actively asking for feedback, urge your critics to be frank and more specific.
Learn Something New As Often As You Can
List down skills which will most likely be useful or advantageous on your end in the future. Narrow that list into 3 skills and strive to spend even a small portion of your time each day to learning any of those skills. Being one step ahead will almost always benefit you in the long run.
Be a Teacher
While the idea of joining a class to learn new skills is an excellent way to improve on your career, you might also want to do the opposite — teach a class! As a teacher, you would also have the opportunity to learn new approaches and get inspired by your students who often have a fresher perspective on things.
